Transform

트랜스폼

Three values decide where an object sits, how it turns, and how large it appears. In Object Mode, the origin and mesh move together.

Think of an object as something on a desk: Location is where it sits, Rotation is which way it faces, and Scale is its size. Press G, R, or S in the 3D Viewport to start moving, rotating, or scaling; the Object Properties ▸ Transform panel also accepts numbers. These values act around the object origin, not directly on the mesh.

In Python, change obj.location, obj.rotation_euler, and obj.scale. This example changes each property in turn: location uses scene units and is parent-relative when the object has a parent; Euler rotation uses radians, and scale is a multiplier on each axis. Direct data assignment avoids the viewport context that bpy.ops often needs.

Moving vertices in Edit Mode changes the mesh while leaving these three values alone. Mixing the two up can make modifiers and parenting behave unexpectedly even when two objects look the same size. The four views keep one camera while showing the base state, move, rotate, and scale.

When to use

Use these values to place, orient, and size an object. When coordinating several objects, decide whether their values should be in world or local space.
