Sculpt Mode pushes and pulls the surface inside a brush radius, like pressing fingerprints into clay. Select a mesh object, choose Sculpt Mode from the 3D Viewport mode menu, or open the Ctrl+Tab pie menu. The toolbar and brush settings switch to sculpting tools.

The bpy.ops.sculpt.brush_stroke operator exists, but a two-point stroke call in Blender 5.1.1 -b had no VIEW_3D area: bpy.context.area was None, poll() returned False, and the call raised "Operator bpy.ops.sculpt.brush_stroke.poll() failed, context is incorrect". The sphere dimensions were unchanged. This demo uses BMesh to create the bulge; interactive brush strokes need a VIEW_3D context.

If object scale has not been applied before sculpting, brush size and strength may behave unexpectedly. This comparison renders the original sphere and the deformed mesh without pretending to show the brush UI.

When to use

Use it to shape broad, organic surfaces such as characters or cloth. Build precise edges and topology in Edit Mode.
